When is a Building Permit required?
Buildings/sheds 200 sq. feet or less will need a zoning permit and buildings over 200 sq. feet require a building permit. Accessory buildings over 600 sq. feet and larger must have frost protected footings. Re- shingle permits are required for residential and commercial buildings. Fencing over 6 feet high, structural remodeling, decks over 30" above grade, additions, swimming pools over 24" deep, etc.
When is a Zoning Permit required?
All agricultural and accessory buildings 200 sq. ft. or less require a Zoning Permit.
When is a Building Permit not required?
A fence not over 6 feet high, a retaining wall not more than 4 feet in height, a sidewalk or driveway, painting, papering, tiling, carpeting, cabinet counter tops and similar finish work, a prefabricated swimming pool that is less than 24 inches deep, swings and other playground equipment accessory to a 1-2 family dwelling, window awnings supported by an exterior wall which do not project more than 54 inches from the exterior wall and do not require additional support.

You must protest to the Board of Review on one of the scheduled hearing dates that are selected in March of each year.

Re-shingle permits are required for residential and commercial buildings.
How do I obtain a green reflective Home ID sign?
You may purchase a Safety Street sign which will help all 911 personnel find your home quickly in the event of an emergency. The signs are $23.00 for the 5-7 year life or $30.00 for the 10-14 year life high intensity sign. A portion of the proceeds is used to purchase equipment for The Larkin Township Fire Department.
